The Republican leaders speak and act with an air of invincibility; they believe that many voters will vote for them because the public does not know what they have done. If voters have a thorough understanding of what legislation has been passed, they will vote to replace those Republican leaders. Please read this part thoroughly and carefully. Please note that this part is very detailed; it shows the full extent to which the Republican leaders are turning the American dream into an American nightmare for many middle income families. If your time is limited, just read the parts that are related to your situation. For example, teachers and parents should read Lack of Support for Education; retirees could read Retirees Not Faring Well Under Republican Leadership; students should read Reduced Funding for University of North Carolina System; everyone should read McCrory Middle Income Tax Hike and Voter Suppression Laws.
- Lack of Support for Education
- Reduced Funding for University of North Carolina System
- McCrory Middle Income Tax Hike
- Tax Cuts for Large Corporations
- Voter Suppression Laws
- Republican Legislation Harms Poorest Citizens
- Republican Legislation Treats Women Poorly
- Republican Policies Resulted in Job Losses
- Republican Leaders Treated State Employees Unfairly
- Retirees Not Faring Well Under Republican Leadership
- Republicans Discuss Policy Issues During Secret Meetings
- Republican Redistricting Results in Drop in White Democratic Office Holders
The goals of the Republican leaders appear to be the following:
- Dismantle the public education system in this state.
- Dismantle the state supported higher education system
- Eliminate the safety net for those who have fallen on hard times
- Tear down the ladder of opportunity
- Weaken or destroy the middle class
- Reward their wealthy benefactors with substantial tax reductions by increasing taxes on middle income families and eliminating important services
The only way to undo the dreadful actions taken by this legislature is to replace the Republican leaders with Democratic leaders who reflect North Carolina values. Let’s repair the mistake of four years ago.
If the Republican leaders continue on the path they have begun, it spells disaster for the middle class in North Carolina.
If you want to protect the American dream, vote Democratic in 2016!!!
