The Republican leaders passed legislation that treats women poorly.

  1. About 40% of North Carolina families are headed by single women; many of these  women depended on the earned Income Tax Credit, which the Republican leaders voted to end.
  2. The refusal to extend Medicaid benefits denied coverage to an additional 200,000  women.
  3. About 80% of the teachers in North Carolina are women; the refusal to give them raises has reduced their purchasing power.
  4. At the national level, Senate republicans blocked passage of the Paycheck Fairness Act, which was an attempt to address the problem that women who work full-time earn about 77% of what the same men make.
  5. About 60% of the minimum wage workers in North Carolina are women; women are biggest losers in the failure to raise the minimum wage.

There is a need to pass legislation which provides for better treatment of women in North Carolina.   VOTE DEMOCRATIC!!
