Enormous damage has been done to middle income families in North Carolina as a result of legislation passed by the Republican leaders in the North Carolina legislature. Many of the details have not been publicized and are not well known by the electorate. It is the hope of the Republican leaders that the details will remain hidden, and that they will be re-elected in spite of the damage they have done. Those details are spelled out here and demonstrate why the Republican leaders should be defeated in November.
These Republican leaders can be replaced if we increase our turnout: turnout is the key. In the recent Scottish election, there was an 85% turnout. 85%!! People voted because they understood an issue that was important to them. We must help our neighbors, family members, friends, and acquaintances understand the agenda being advanced by the Republican leaders. If our contacts have a clear understanding of these issues, they are likely to vote. We should use whatever media is available to get the message out: email to everyone we know; use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube videos, townhall meetings that reporters cover, letters, telephone calls, door-to-door house visits, speeches, small group gatherings, letters to newspapers, and any other means of communication available to you.
Remember: Eric Canter, one of the top Republican leaders in the country, was defeated for re-election, in spite of significant name recognition and enormous amounts of campaign funds. His opposition was able to present a compelling message and get his voters to the polls. We must do the same.
